Imagine waking up, forgetting about yesterday and not thinking about tomorrow. Love today, live in the moment.

“I perhaps owe becoming a painter to flowers.” Claude Monet… same Claude and also to my mom who loved flowers and taught me how to garden and believe in myself as an artist. Who/what inspired you to create?

This work is a companion piece to my last post. The art features variegated hostas, one of my favorites.

I love seeing my work in healthcare settings and hearing from patients & their families that see it when they are receiving care. This new art piece features hostas, I wanted it have an abstract feel.

How about a little happiness and joy today? Fun fact, when I made this piece, I used flowers to create that water.

Well, my niece, who works for the Federal Government in arctic security, lost her job today. What’s the end game here?

I lived in Canada in the summer when my dad was attending college there. Here I am with my brothers. Our home during the rest of the year was about 10 miles from the Canadian border. Maybe it's this close connection to Canada that makes me have a special place in my heart for Canadians & Canada.

Starting my day with blue butterfly pea tea with a spot of cream & honey. It was so pretty I had to take a picture of it even though it’s half gone.

“5 calls: call your Congress” is a great app that makes it easy to call your representatives. I urge you to go to the App Store & check it out. It’s as easy as entering your zip code & your Federal representatives appear with phone #, current topics & talking points to call about. Effortless action

I don’t think I’ve mentioned that I love goats. Fortunately, my friend has a herd of them. They are on the way to a job clearing out invasive bittersweet in the woods.

Whether you know it or not, this negativity affects every single person in this country.
NIH appears to have canceled/postponed all of its study sections—the independent review panels that approve federal grants for health research.

Such grants fund the work/salaries of 300k people at more than 2,500 institutions
All NIH study sections canceled indefinitely. This will halt science and devastate research budgets in universities.

On a personal level, I believe the statement “what you are not changing, you are choosing” is profound & true. It’s easy to get comfortable with the status quo, especially here in Michigan in the heart of winter. Here’s to choosing to focus on the good in life & not be distracted by external chaos.

New car shopping, it’s not for me. Anyone else out there as shocked as I am at the prices? I’d like to replace my car but can’t stomach paying $30,000+ to get something nicer than what I have now. Happy art to make me feel better included.
