I had the pleasure of writing this fic for @anomalyzaunzine.bsky.social exploring Ekko's time creating the tribute painting for Vi 🥹 If you loved s2e7 of Arcane, you NEED to check out this zine!

Layers of paint bloomed across the water tower. Mere blocks of shapes initially, then Ekko breathed life into every muscle, every fabric fold, every strand of hair out of place. Exhaustion weighed down upon him, but he kept painting. Almost done. A little bit more. Could’ve spent the rest of his life tweaking minute details, to be honest. But he didn’t have that luxury. It needed to be done, not perfect.

One last touch-up on her irises, then Ekko sighed. Twilight seeped into the skies as he descended the ladder. Several lanterns illuminated his impromptu studio space—enough light to work with, to see what he created. Clapping his hands clean, Ekko stepped away from his painting... and looked at Vi, awestruck and unwavering, no different from a decade ago.

“Not too shabby. Wish you were here to see it, Vi.” Something wistful colored his small smile. “See all of this.”
