I like trains.

Yeah there’s heavy traffic all throughout the day. It’s a great illustration of how much railways reduce traffic.

I’ll be the first to complain about the lack of railway electrification, but just because it isn’t happening doesn’t mean we can’t buy enough trains to run a better service. A 40% passenger increase is huge!

The main environmental benefit of trains is their ability to get people out of cars. The CO2 reductions of reduced car use are much greater than stopping a train using diesel.
But these trains don’t even ‘lock in’ diesel because they can run on electric wires when they’re installed.

Kaiser Chiefs and Franz Ferdinand are such a good mix to listen to together

Same with Dunkettle in Cork. They’ve tried one thing and they’re all out of ideas.

DART+ South West is shelved until 2030. It has full planning approval since 2024, no judicial reviews and is ready to go but construction won't start until after 2030. A lot of housing around Adamstown and Clonburris built in anticipation of this upgrade.

naming a cow ‘polar bear’ is cool and all, but in order to really impress me you’ll have to name a polar bear ‘cow’

bonus points if you can sell it at auction

there are some pretty bad junctions in Dublin for cyclists, but the new ones are really nice to use (Amiens Street for example)

on a more serious note, it’s not right that we accept so many crashes like this

and best wishes to those involved - I hope there are no fatalities
