I don't understand why ppl think Elon (alll the rich for that matter) aren't friends with (do business) with the Chinese.
These ppl are all on the same page. They do what is good for THEM, not you. If you look at it from that perspective everything they do makes sense.

I agree with you. The state ought not be putting anyone to death. I AM concerned about killing innocent people. I AM concerned about corruption resulting in death/lifetime incarceration for those who are innocent. The state just cannot handle the responsibility.

Actually, sticking to ones own kind is 100% natural. It's done by every species and sub species of animal known to man. It's innate & instinctual, you couldn't NOT seek your own even if you had 12,000 internet bot accounts attempting to shame you into doing so.
