I’m fine with people—many of them decent and honorable people—who were once Republicans but decided to break with the party over Trump. However, I’m not sure any of these MAGA folks will ever be redeemable.

I also blame the national news media for double standards that go much easier on Republicans for doing orders of magnitude worse things. Jake Tapper wrote a whole book on Joe Biden's supposed mental decline but now lets absolutely crazy nonsense from Trump go by largely without a peep.

I give you credit for being responsible like that, and I don't mean to say that people shouldn't criticize their own side. But when things are as desperate as they are now, with sociopathic fascists destroying our democracy, I don't think we should demonize people who are overwhelmingly our allies.

But you seem to make a point of calling other leading Democrats like Hillary Clinton or Kamala Harris "horrible people." And unfortunately, that cynical attitude helped Trump win another term which we're now paying for much worse than anything Clinton, Harris or Newsom would ever do.

I wouldn't say that he "doesn't give a shit." I think it's more like some liberal politicians got spooked by the "anti-woke" backlash of the '24 election and are trying to have it both ways. He seems to be one of those liberal Democrats who no longer has the strength of his own convictions.
