It's probably different for different people anyways. Interesting to consider, though!

So tone for literal word meaning isn't an issue, but tone for contextual meaning is?

Also, like...we just don't tend to *call* it terrorism when it's perpetrated by or in the name of an established, acknowledged state. Doesn't mean it's not on the same order or even much, much worse.

How does that work for tonal languages?

Better ChatGPT5 (or any number) trick:

Don't fucking use it.

There are probably way more people who believe they're pretending because they're in denial that they need accommodations or they don't know what it's like to be non-disabled than there are genuine fakers.

I'm really sorry to hear the police are being useless. I feel like if the room didn't exist then the rental company shouldn't get a pass just because the building does. Hopefully you can at least get some kind of documentation from the tourism board.

You should start the chargeback process w/ your card company now and, if you have time, I'd suggest filing a police report for fraud against the company. Looks like they pull this scam all over the world, so I imagine they're pros at contesting chargebacks. Having the police report might help there.

My favorite bit. 1 and 2 should be swapped to match what's on the screen (an issue with most of the QTEs). The options mention things (truck, ladder) the player can't see. Even hallucination-free animation wouldn't fix these most basic failures of UX/gameplay design choices.

Now I wonder if the friend will realize all the other conservatives publicly mourning Kirk's death were not ignorant of his hateful rhetoric. That they cosign most of what he said if they're not themselves more extreme. That his fascism is the baseline of the right.

I started near-daily workouts a few months ago to build strength and endurance (from next to zero). Still just as fat, but having some muscles to go with it makes me feel more positive about my body. Trying to buy clothes in Japan is rough, though.

I hang out in lefty spaces with lots of feminists, queer and trans people and they all use "woman" and "man"…unless they're challenging the gender binary or talking about those who don't fit into it. And knowing how gender fuckery abounds in fanfiction, they probably weren't discussing just women.

I was just coming here to post this. This poor stock image lady with vitiligo catching ableist splash damage.

That was meant as a footnote to what you were saying. I'm sure most of the people putting up the money expect a return on their investment at some point, but the folk at the helm are in to reach AGI.

It's not normal company behavior because the goal isn't really profit. It's a bunch of religious zealots trying to beat one another at creating Machine Jesus.

They're charging too much to be worth it to customers and too little to cover their own costs. Very, very simple.
July 8, 2025 at 9:28 AM
Hey, @tomsuozzi.bsky.social? There are huge negative economic impacts to lacking reproductive rights and LGBTQ+ protections. Anyone queer, trans and/or able to get pregnant doesn't have the luxury of considering bills, rent and job security separately. I bet Mamdani understands that. Why don't you?

If moral vacuity is a necessary part of finding something useful, it doesn't make you more of a realist to credit that utility with the costs separated out. Someone has to pay up, even if it's not whoever entered the prompt. Don't help them duck responsibility.

If I have a lawnmower that works really well to mow grass but requires the life of someone else to run it, is it useful? No, because I have a moral obligation to avoid using it. (And LLMs are nowhere near as reliable as a lawnmower.)

Probably because it’s from the Japanese, which is ラジオ体操, and originally was broadcast via radio. Though people here still do them regularly without the radio. I sometimes see the construction workers near my house doing them at the start of their work day.

You, specifically, should not talk to the cops because you have the logical skills of a small child and they will find you a very easy mark.

It's the intensity I try to address and normalize. Like, I think most neurotypical people aren't really caught up by their feelings toward irregularity often. They might be irritated by the extra work of having to memorize an exception, but not outright alienated or derailed.
April 4, 2025 at 4:51 AM
And sometimes I even act out feeling frustrated that there are so many exceptions in the more basic grammar or act out being happy to find regions of consistency so if my students have similar reactions, they can feel validated.
April 3, 2025 at 3:15 AM
I've found many of my autistic students have trouble with _unacknowledged exceptions_ (such as irregular grammar points) and instead of blaming them for not picking it up on their own, I just point out all the exceptions deliberately every single time they come up.
