This stone obelisk in County Meath makes a fine eyecatcher on the Dublin-Slane road near Ashbourne

Named the Brindley Memorial, it was erected in 1880 for a huntsman who lived locally and features related carvings around its base

The EU is betting heavily on #textile #recycling, but its potential cannot keep pace with the mountains of clothes we produce.

Our planet is bursting at the seams with too much clothing. Recycling alone won’t fix it.

“For years, the EU has promised to lead on climate and nature protection, but what this investigation shows is that we are literally cementing over our own future"

Great new research from 41 journalists & scientists from 11 countries shows extent of loss. Ireland ranks 3rd by pop.

Deputy Whitmore asking the question we all want to know the answer to.

Although they didn't say it, it seems the answer to the question about when the EPA pull the plug on a non-compliant discharge licence is never. They never have to date.

Polluters can do their thing and still get licenced.

How many chances should be given to get it right?

Non-compliance under our licence system appears to be more the norm than the aberration when it comes to protecting our water quality

A worrying trend is the loss of highest quality river sites & an increase in number of poor quality sites
