Very happy to share that I will be starting as an Assistant Professor in the department of Biological Sciences at the University of South Carolina in January! My group will be working on environmental phage ecology and evolution, and I am recruiting for the upcoming year (more info below).

They're within the ovaries.
Yes, it is super cool! Always refreshing to do microscopy with non-bacteria samples at times 😆

@jenncoughlan.bsky.social here's couple more fresh ones while we wait for the scope to take full Z-stacks

Come check out my poster tomorrow at #ASMicrobe in the E&EB section!

We found that repressor mutations in Pf prophages sparked a coevolutionary dynamic that resulted in loss of twitch motility and susceptibility to virulent pilus-targeting phage.

Would love to chat about all things phage :).

Grad student @noahhoupt.bsky.social will present the story of experimentally evolving a Pseudomonas lab strain for 150 generations over 1000 days. Spoiler alerts: #prophages are important! 🦠📊

Current postdoc, soon-to-be-PI @cathyhernandez.bsky.social is presenting a poster on the involvement of prophages in thermal ecology of marine microbes 🌊🦠
She is also convening a session on #prophages and giving a rapid fire talk! 🔥

Hurray, it is finally out! Meet bacteriophage Bxb1 - the subject of my first full-phage cryo-EM study. My structures are beautifully complemented by the Park Lab’s cryo-ET analysis, shedding light on mycobacteriophage structural changes during infection.

Our latest preprint just dropped @paulturnerlab.bsky.social

We evolved bacteria on swim plates, against a phage that attacks through the flagellum. Motility trades off AND trades up(!!) with phage-resistance!

key strengths for me:
* click on a reference (e.g., number or FirstAuthor Year) and it brings up the full detail (title, authors, year, google scholar link) without going to ref section
* click on figure reference, brings you to figure. click back button, brings you back

Very excited to share a manuscript at the heart of my PhD! We added an RNA-memory device (RAM) to phage P1 to identify transduction hosts in synthetic and wastewater microbial communities in high throughput. Also, I am on the post-doc market, so please reach out if interested! 1/6
