Not "What have I? Become my Swedish friend" exhorting the listener to be like a Swede, not like the singer?

Your logic doesn't hold... no British soldier serving today is there due to National Service.

Even if young soldiers today are on the far right (which is disputable), making cohorts of them more heterogeneous would lessen any influence of self-selecting militaristic young people.

Personally I take issue with any analysis that treats "Reform voters" as a unified group.

Best for Britain's polling shows some very distinct subgroups, some of which would certainly care, though it alone may not be enough to sway them to another party.

He's expressing jealousy of Europe's depth that's lacking in the modern American mainstream culture the Trump administration promotes.

It's pathetic and unintended but understandable and ultimately flattering to us here.

It brings to mind the image of a usurper crowning himself... but it's even more derisible when it's an invented and meaningless prize.
December 7, 2025 at 6:00 AM
No, but I don't mind pointing out what people do unconsciously though people rarely recognise it immediately so it's a service of dubious effectiveness.
December 7, 2025 at 5:52 AM
But it's good to see you admit you were picking what you thought was certain ground just because you thought it was certain ground, not because you thought it relevant to trans-gender identity.
December 6, 2025 at 10:48 PM
True, I'm not a professional, but I have a degree in biological sciences and clearly know more than you do about the territory you were defending... genetics.
December 6, 2025 at 10:48 PM
You definitely aren't a geneticist Sally. Even on the ground you've chosen anyone informed will tell you that GCSE-level tale of XX = Female, XY = Male is grossly oversimplified.

So, Musk is, by logical extension, in favour of the dissolution of the United States of America in favour of its constituent states so that their citizens are better represented.

... No, didn't think so.

In fact, the courts were exceptionally careful to define the decision's scope.

It seemed clear to me that the court did everything it could to signal that the law needed revision.

The government chose to ignore them, preferring to use it as an opportunity to reinforce its move to the right.
December 6, 2025 at 3:47 PM
Courts assess & interpret the law, they make no determination on whether a law is right or wrong.

The government makes the law and debates the ethics.

It is absolutely the wrong way round for the government to conclude that the courts have determined the proper way to proceed.

The act of self-investing implies the absence of validity.

The whole point of the channel was to do the checking.
December 5, 2025 at 6:12 PM
Well, yes, but it's an established official channel so no blame attaches to anyone who trusted it. So it has no whiff of political corruption attaching to any politician.
December 5, 2025 at 5:24 PM
Fun pushing that button because it can't happen. If he affirms he is still a racist he'll piss off half his support, if he affirms he has changed his mind a) nobody will actually believe him, and b) he'll piss off the other half.
December 5, 2025 at 4:38 PM
Yeah, but it was funny in the moment and we don't listen for constant deadpan seriousness. A little leavening goes a long way.
December 4, 2025 at 9:47 PM
He's still delusional, imagining that Libertarianism can *ever* be the guiding principle of government, but it has been a part of his identity for so long that I doubt he'll ever see reality.
December 4, 2025 at 9:38 PM
I could easily be wrong, but I suspect he's a true believer in the theory of Libertarianism, which makes him fundamentally at odds with the Trump administration that uses the language of applied Libertarianism to deliver a full-blown Authoritarian agenda.
December 4, 2025 at 9:38 PM
No, it isn't, the broader point is do Farage's non-racist supporters care that he's been shown to be a racist.

If Farage *only* had racist supporters then he would be leader of a small fringe party, a nobody.

Splitting his support is critical so don't treat them as a monolith.
December 4, 2025 at 9:26 PM
Grrr... 'seams'. Hate it when I overlook mistakes.
December 4, 2025 at 2:51 PM
How is that at odds with the investment in any way? The electricity infrastructure is exactly what's needed (along with improved turbine designs) to capture more wind energy.
December 4, 2025 at 1:37 PM
Definitely coming apart at the seems.

If he didn't absolutely have to not even Farage would accept a bail out from anyone so obviously connected to dodgy Russian money while trying to fight off the taint of close associates being convicted of Russian-based corruption.
December 4, 2025 at 12:42 PM
The page won't open for me but if this is the Led By Donkeys misguided "sting" operation then the MPs were quite properly doing their jobs facilitating inward investment. The channel was legitimate too, it, the channel, just failed to catch the fake.

LBD is usually great, not this time though.
December 4, 2025 at 12:29 PM
My concern is that the announcement covers investment enhancing electricity AND GAS infrastructure.

Beyond managed decline, what investment does Gas need?
