MUSIC! (Everything from traditional folk to electronic weirdness)
THEATRE! (Especially Scottish and Irish)
BOOKS!
HAGGIS!
Letterboxd: GhostOfTheRegal
I'm really looking forward to seeing this, but still think this description might be stretching it a bit.

Rounding off the British apocalypse evening... on VHS!
January 15, 2026 at 10:52 PM
British apocalypse evening, film #2 - revisiting one that pretty much everyone thinks is crap except me.

No Blade of Grass (1970)

Went to see Bone Temple earlier. Was totally underwhelmed, but it has put me in the mood for an evening revisiting some British apocalyptic movies. First up is this low budget 2008 Scottish film that I remember liking but haven't seen since it first hit DVD.

It had to happen eventually.

I Know Who Killed Me (2007)

Been a while since I had a bit of vintage Euro-crime action. Time to give this Damiano Damiani one a whirl. Cardinale! Nero! Cobb! What a combo.

Another night, another Graham Reid offering. First viewing of this evening: You, Me & Marley (1992)

Now can someone please stick Lorna online?
January 13, 2026 at 7:00 PM
Could be the year for people who like movies about people hiking in the Scottish Highlands.

Delighted to have stumbled across "A Dunfermline Ghost Story" from 1892
January 12, 2026 at 11:47 PM
First glance at my Letterboxd stats for 2026 so far. Inconclusive.
January 11, 2026 at 9:48 PM
There's a handful of Screen Two plays on the iPlayer at the moment so next up tonight I'm off to Belfast for a Graham Reid double bill.
January 11, 2026 at 9:14 PM
Lazy evening in front of the telly. Decided to revisit a couple of films I've not seen in years: a Scottish-set wartime thriller and the Irish Godzilla.

Then and (sadly) now.

The Orient Express (latterly Robins), Dunfermline
January 9, 2026 at 12:44 PM
There are no words for how much I hate this smug little shitebag.
January 7, 2026 at 9:35 PM
Don't think I've seen this since it first aired when I was a kid so decided to revisit it tonight. Now watching Dr Who: The Five Doctors, aka Dr Who: Tom Baker Can't Be Arsed
January 6, 2026 at 7:54 PM
First video nasty of the year!

Now watching Honeymoon Horror (1982)
January 3, 2026 at 11:55 PM
Okay, time to get the Saturday night trash started. Dipping back into the post-apocalyptic VHS collection...
January 3, 2026 at 10:06 PM
Following my previous double bill I decided to keep the Irish theme going with tonight's viewing (not on VHS this time I'm afraid). Documentary time now.

This year's Irish viewing starts this evening following my Scottish stuff last night... and we kick things off old school, with a VHS DOUBLE BILL!
January 3, 2026 at 5:13 PM
Decided to start my film viewing year with a bit of Frederick Wiseman. This will be the third year in a row so I guess this now counts as a tradition.

Books I read in 2025: The final update!
January 1, 2026 at 8:34 PM
In 2025 I watched 562 feature films and 723 shorts. In a revelation that will surprise precisely nobody, your best bet of appearing in my most viewed actors or directors was to make films in Scotland or Ireland.

For reasons I won't go into this is by far the worst Christmas of my life, however I have my festive traditions to take my mind off things, one of which is "binge watch a Ken Burns series" so here we go with this year's effort. Time to finally tackle this 13-hour epic.
December 26, 2025 at 12:09 PM
Discovered this last year and watched it on Christmad Day. Decided it should be a tradition so here we go.
