Oh how very Sydney: a buyers agent appears to romanticise driving down… Parramatta Road

My maths could be very wrong, but my count at Parramatta pre-poll centre this morning stands at:
- 83 corflutes
- 38 campaign volunteers
- 1 Liberal van with a petrol pump on it

Clover Moore lost her majority on the City of Sydney last election.

She made Labor’s Zann Maxwell deputy mayor. Despite a strong anti-Clover campaign, he hasn't spoken out against Moore too much while in office.

2️⃣ Shen Yun is a money making machine, but only because local Falun Gong followers have to pay for all of it.

Financial records I obtained show supporters have given almost $2 million in unsecured interest-free loans over the past two years, with $1m+ spent on advertising alone

Two interesting things:

1️⃣ The group is highly effective at getting politicians to visit, and on their way out, give a short (always positive) review, which is then used by Falun Gong-aligned media to create loads of news stories

Shen Yun is a show about Falun Gong.

This is how the Sydney performance began and ended last year:

Shen Yun advertises itself as a music and dance show of 5000 years of Chinese history - “China before communism”.

But it’s created and run by Falun Gong, a spiritual group founded in China by a man called Li Hongzhi — not 5000 years ago, but in 1992.

Chances are, you’ve seen these posters on the street.

But what is Shen Yun, and who is behind it?

So many fascinating details in this. The RBA building stacked with asbestos? Ross Garnaut demanding an opinion piece run at a certain time? Biscuits and fruit in the boardroom?

I know we love to hate on Darling Harbour, but the newish ICC and playground have brought a lot of life.

Will be interesting to see what happens when the construction on the old Harbourside is complete
