Screening newborns for rare diseases for which treatments are available is not negotiable. Although the diseases are rare, I happen to have two former colleagues with children who have them. Someday your life will be touched. Let screenings prevent tragedies.
Her daughter died at 12 of a rare disease. HHS cut the screening program that could’ve saved others
In April, the Deparment of Health and Human Services shuttered the committe that oversaw newborn screenings. Advocates hope it can be reinstated.

Brining Americans to their knees is being done financially, logistically, and psychologically. And once the rest of the world turns its back on us, no one will be coming to save us. Helping the weak and vulnerable used to be our job. Now we are the weak and vulnerable. Time to save ourselves.

I’ve always been a fan of post-apocalypse fiction. It usually gives me hope that good people will still commit good acts even under terrible circumstances. The Trump-induced apocalypse will test all of us. Who will do good? Who will resist? Who will join in the destruction? What will turn to ash?

When a nosy neighbor or relative inquires about your child’s college plans, it’s up to YOU to step in and say “We will let you know how it turns out in May.” Or “He’s weighing up a lot of options. Pass the gravy.”

Protect your child’s privacy.

Their plans aren’t your prize.
