He's *accused* of killing a wealthy CEO. And the evidence isn't exactly airtight.

I think this is the bigger thing.

All Americans are socialized to accept the violence of capitalism and imperialism. Getting older and having more experience hardly makes you more likely to resist it (literally just look at the state of the country right now). Palantir is going after young hires because they're cheaper, not dumber.

This is primarily a cost-cutting measure. High school grads don't demand as much in wages as college grads. The "no life experience" thing is infantilizing teenagers for no good reason.

The only downside to a functional welfare state is when it's internally circulating imperial superprofits, supporting the continued operation of colonial and imperial structures, and cutting off avenues of international worker solidarity. Unfortunately the case for many European welfare states.

Can't reply or quote repost the other thing about what border patrol does in the scrublands, but I just wanted to say that this article still haunts me: inthesetimes.com/article/us-m...
How Border Patrol Occupied the Tohono O’odham Nation
Under ever-expanding high-tech surveillance, the reservation has become “the most militarized community in America.”

Except for the racism, of course! :)

Beautiful!!!

Don't get me started on curfews. Ageist, classist, and racist, all rolled together. Often it's not even a consequence of bad behavior - just a proactive social management mechanism to control the undesirables.

Like I just said on another post: car-centric infrastructure is classist and racist, but above all it is central to US youth oppression. Children no longer have autonomous access to public spaces, cars are a huge enforcement mechanism, and yes, it's all a CHOICE.

It's all vibes! What really sucks is that based on stranger danger type scaremongering (in part), US kids have almost completely lost autonomous access to public spaces.

But when I say this has literally always been the case, especially for white people...

Americans never lived in a "truth" world enough for this to be a "post-truth" world.

My mom believes this and it's the first thing she brought up when I first got my job at NASA. 🫠

There are three sources of labor pool supply for social reproduction. Generational reproduction (having kids), immigration, and slavery.

Boosting birth rates takes decades. They're mass deporting immigrants. Of course this is what's left.

Remember that the age group that has experienced the largest increase in homelessness in the last several years is CHILDREN. A 33% increase between 2023 and 2024 alone.

I get what you're saying, and I mostly agree. But I can't fathom going through the unbelievable amount of effort it would take to build a robust left-wing propaganda machine only to waste it on the Democrats.

Samuel Bowles and Herbert Gintis covered this concept in Schooling in Capitalist America (1968). AI is accelerating many of these contradictions and I get how it may be frustrating to you. But student edu labor is real labor, just as much as yours is. They just pay to do it instead of getting paid.
October 31, 2025 at 2:33 PM
Genuinely, why are you approaching this as a labor issue on the prof's side but not the student's side? Student LLM use is a labor struggle as well. Students are using AI to reduce workloads in an increasingly wealth stratified society. Saying it's just "laziness" is intellectually dishonest.
