Incredible!! I think this might be something fairly similar - my Latin isn't very good, but I believe they're supposed to be slightly scurrilous verses about St Augustine (of course....)

Even if there's also the things you accidentally order which turn out to be obscure ecclesiastical tracts and you have to spend 45 minutes pretending to look at them to justify the fetching!

Thank you! Have had hot bath, alarmingly nearly joined by the cat at one point.....!

What a nice walk. I am home now. 15 miles all in, which feels about right, including the two miles added by the Circular Walk Of Which We Do Not Speak. Thanks for coming along for a patented Reinbold Big Walk.

The Gothic Tower! Designed by Sanderson Miller; built by Capability Brown; envied by William Mason who tried (unsuccessfully) to get Harcourt to build one like it at Nuneham. Enduring folly!!

Accidentally went on a circular walk of the Wimpole Estate. Don't ask. Also just actually looked at a map and realised the route is 13 miles each way, not in total. I might......get the bus home. But not before.....

Well, that last bit was grim. Mostly on the road, with really high verges. Not looking forward to the return leg. Still, Kingston is very pretty, and Wimpole is not far off now. I am thinking fervently about cheese scones.

Very plashy but picturesque. Onwards to Kingston.

Heading out of sunny Hardwick towards Caldecote. Quite an exciting bit from Coton across a firing range which the leaflet I read about this walk didn't mention, but all good.

Yes! And yes please!!

A bit of a cheat because I once walked to Coton as a student, but it's uncharted waters from here.

Thus far, the No Map Strategy is working out. Saw a fox skulking across the frozen lawns at Clare, and some rabbits by the Cavendish. Also stopped to buy a coffee, because I am inescapably myself.

I have just about recovered from the last Big Walk, which was a largely joyless 26-mile trudge around the villages of Cambridgeshire. But this will be different! I have a Plan! And proper socks! No map, though. Hoping for the best in that department.
