Tally was picked up by the crows as a child he didn't have much choice in the matter.
Zahir on the other hand ran away from Tevinter and joined the Lords of Fortune because nobody from the emperium would ever think of finding him on a beach with a bunch of unwashed barbarians xD (he loves them)

Tally is very easy to bring to tears.... Although it's usually not genuine. He cries more or less on command and uses it at his advantage.
Zahir on the other hand is not that easy to make cry. He doesn't feel confortable with many people and he is usually too busy checking on others' feelings.
