A nor'easter is becoming likely this weekend/early next week for the Mid Atlantic. The idea of the northern stream s/w not cutting off to interact with the coastal storm is losing support.

Great thread, Tomer. I've noticed the overall wave pattern over the last few days, despite the bouncing around with the s/w, has trended a little more amplified on the ensemble mean. I wonder if this will help tilt the scale into having a more cut off northern wave. But alas, it's only Wednesday.

Thanks. Yeah, it's rare, but the good news is many kids make a full recovery. Got to keep an eye on their kidneys and stomach in the meantime for serious complications. She currently doesn't want to walk and has stiff/painful joints, ankles etc.

Having a child who's suffering from Henoch-Schönlein Purpura (HSP) is terrible. We're in the midst of it. Have any of you had experience with this? I never heard of it until we went to the ER Monday.

The sentiment, "There is no place for violence in this country," is rich, an empty platitude, and wholly ignores the violent history of this place. In fact, this country is a place of gun violence, and we should change that.

We are also seeing signs of spatial patterns in the tropical forcing for +TNH/PNA enhancement this autumn/early winter. We'll have to see as ENSO/QBO settles in how the low pass signal will alter. The consensus is we shift away from this as the winter goes on, but it's super early.

Climate change has been linked with westward-displaced Rossby Waves for the NH late summer, and precipitation deficits/sea ice are usually a positive feedback for that (e.g. the resilient western ridge of North America).
