A thoroughly enjoyable and highly informative thread, thank you.

Do you know if the River class DDGH is of interest to the Sjøforsvaret? The production timeline and complement would be major strikes against its adoption, but in terms of equipment the Canadian T26 seems to fit the bill perfectly.

True, though stocks are likely to run low for a few years because of continued supplies to Ukraine.

My thoughts exactly. In addition to Chunmoo, we're also getting HIMARS for corps-level fires. Its localised version (with a Polish FCS and chassis) will be called Homar-A. Mesko is working on establishing a manufacturing facility for GMLRS (not the ER variant though).

If I remember correctly, Hanwha once said they were open to integrating NSM with Chunmoo. WB and Hanwha have agreed in principle to develop the K239 missile family in the long term, with the aim of manufacturing these munitions in Poland.

LM have repeatedly stated that they have no interest in integrating their missiles with launchers other than the M142 and M270.

One argument in favour of Chunmoo are the launcher and missile production lines being established in Poland (at HSW and WB respectively).

Thank you!

As a side note, if we finally get around to buying new submarines, I'd be willing to bet that NSM-SL is likely to be picked over any other anti-ship missile... Even though technically speaking the SL variant is still a concept and not even a technology demonstrator.

While not strictly speaking a production line, Poland's WZE is part of the NSM supply chain and is capable of performing depot-level overhauls. With the anticipated adoption of NSM Block 1A and JSM in the Polish military, WZE's production capacity might grow further over time.

I believe it was gen. Kukuła who announced that our F-35s will carry low-visibility chequerboards, though this will require an amendment to the Insignia of the Polish Armed Forces Act.

Wouldn't it make more sense for the Army to procure a variant of the Standard missile? To my untrained eye, an extended range version of THAAD would create a capability overlap with SM-3 (at least to some extent).

To be honest, I'm not sure. Damian isn't the type of guy to jump on a new social media platform right away, so this might take some time. 😉

This could become a whole series of articles about the contenders in Poland's Orka programme. Watch this space.

Part three will be a deep dive (pun intended) into the weapon systems used on KSS-III. Not only is South Korea becoming a submarine design powerhouse, they also make their own torpedoes and missiles, which are all very modern and interesting in their own right.

In part one I took a look at the historical and doctrinal background of KSS-III. Given that this is a brand new SSB-AIP, the origins of this design merit a closer look.

Jak powstał KSS-III, czyli Orka po koreańsku [ANALIZA]
