Newspaper comics were also, at least in the very strict society I was stuck in, one of the only non-religious stories I could get.
The Phantom, Calvin & Hobbes, Luan, and Curtis all had solid art and storytelling that did not have guilt and shame attached to them.
They inspired on all fronts.

Yeah, and I get not wanting the carts to be swiped or whatever, but also just like... everything has got to stop being so damn hard. The amount of food boxes and packages and stuff they throw away outweighs the cost of bags and boxes, I think... unless the system is so broke it's cheaper to be evil.

I've had conversations about this very thing no less than three times today.
I'm dumbfounded that this thing is still up, but in the current world we live in, I don't know if anyone with any power has even noticed because everything is so on fire it feels like the ash is burning.

i liked the first three seasons of stranger things, for what it's worth. but it wasn't because of the nostalgia aspect haha. it mostly just lifted aesthetics from 80s movies without ever interrogating anything about it, and i could look past that. but it wasn't an EFFECTIVE use of nostalgia imo
