Heading to #ECCN2025 in London?

Don’t miss our symposium “New insights into premature infant EEG” on Wed Sept 10, 14:00–15:30

I’ll speak on how early cortical activity networks link to neurodevelopment. See you there!

I’m really happy to see that our synergistic collaboration has resulted in a paper characterizing emerging synergies in the human infant brain!

Thank you for your great work, and thanks to all the other authors for their valuable contributions. This work on brain synergy would not have been possible without a truly synergistic team!

Great opportunity for postdocs! I would be happy to support projects aiming to study developing (human) brain.

Choose Science. Choose Europe.

A new Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Postdoctoral Fellowships 2025 call is now open.

With a budget of €404.3 million, it will support around 1,650 researchers from Europe and beyond.

Apply by 10 September → europa.eu/!fBTMgF

Our work applying the local O-information to BOLD data was just accepted to a focus issue on Higher Order Brain Networks in JPhys Complexity!

Here’s a quick thread, which boils down to… timescale really matters when you’re talking about synergy and redundancy in the brain!

All about metastability: what the heck it is, how to measure it in models and data, and how to interpret it in neuroscience!
Metastability demystified — the foundational past, the pragmatic present and the promising future
Nature Reviews Neuroscience - Metastability is a concept from dynamical systems. In the brain, it is thought to reflect the balance between the cooperative and independent functioning of brain...

We found that in utero exposure to AEDs causes persistent changes in functional networks, which also correlate with children's neurocognitive performance. In our previous study on this cohort at term age, we also observed similar effects:

Impact of In Utero Exposure to Antiepileptic Drugs on Neonatal Brain Function
Abstract. In utero brain development underpins brain health across the lifespan but is vulnerable to physiological and pharmacological perturbation. Here,

- High-density EEG is critical for local properties;
- Lower-density caps are OK for global measures;
- Low-frequency amplitude networks are more robust to EEG number;
- High-frequency phase networks are most sensitive to EEG number;
- Use simulations to evaluate any head model before analysis;

Hello, Bluesky🦋! I am a researcher studying the development of the human newborn brain. My work focuses on understanding normal brain development as well as the impact of various risk factors and environmental influence on these processes. Also, I develop methods for analyzing biomedical signals.
