It’s remarkable that the same people who will assert that the entire atmospheric carbon output of industrial civilization over 150 years isn’t capable of changing the climate will also say, “we’re going to terraform Mars.”

No, Elon, we’re not going to forget. Even if you pretend to ‘step away’ from DOGE, and cry sympathy by distancing yourself from the current administration. We won’t forget the needless destruction of our civil service, nor the servers you still have illegally attached to government systems.

A lot of people think ‘taking the Lord’s name in vain’ means saying ’God’ or ‘Jesus’ in your swears. But what it is truly talking about is doing evil while bearing the name of God. That should be VERY concerning to people in power who wave Bibles and pose in prayer while they attack the vulnerable.

Just a reminder that all of the “warnings” your right-wing acquaintances and relatives have been blabbing at you about what “the communists” want to do isn’t what communists want to do. But is, in fact, what the current “administration” is doing for real right now. Complete with gulags. No hype.

I spent enough years in academia to spot when people talk BS to sound smart. From a mile away and in a fraction of a second. But I think even for people who haven’t honed that, Leon sounds smart until he gets on a subject you know anything about.

I have to confess that, jaded as I think I am, I still find it shocking how little most people understand what federal workers in the civil service actually do. It’s like people just think “bureaucracy” means some grumpy person behind the counter at the DMV. (1)

English isn’t even the official language of the UK. But now that the US has an official language, maybe we get an official language Academy or Committee. Can you imagine? We’re all going to need a lot of covfefe.

Been thinking a lot lately about how exactly I approach the world. I realized that I am not a “skeptic” in the general sense of knee-jerk dismissing things I don’t have a canned explanation for. But I am very careful and skeptical about anything that I *want* to be true.

I never used Twitter, so I never had to leave it. Thought I would give this a try, but I am new to the general format. I “temporarily” deactivated my FB account in November, and found I don’t feel like turning it back on. Mostly just want to find people I want to stay in touch with here. ❤️
