“All these traumas are the reason why the Irish took almost 150 years before they could memorialise what they experienced in the 1840s. Those who inflict starvation are aware of this, they know that what they’re doing is actually dismantling a society.” www.theguardian.com/world/2025/j...

This is a man-made disaster.

Enough is enough. The United Nations must be allowed to deliver aid of all types at scale to families in Gaza, wherever they are.
Starvation is a horrific reality for children and families in Gaza.

Aid at scale must be allowed in urgently.

The Israeli Authorities are starving civilians in #Gaza.

Among them are 1 million children.

Lift the siege: allow UNRWA to bring in food and medicines.

It is remarkable that the west is committing to spending 5% of GDP on defence, and almost no one has made the case that the most pressing threat to our security this century is climate change and we should be spending more on tackling that.

Together with our partners, we urge all #EU Member States & the @ec.europa.eu to:

❌halt arms transfers
❌sanction those responsible for ongoing atrocity crimes
❌suspend the trade agreement with Israel

Under the Genocide Convention, EU states are bound to act.

It is utterly unacceptable that Israel is continued to be allowed to slaughter innocent people without any consequences. International rule of law will soon mean nothing if countries do not stand up to the lies & tyranny of this Israeli government.

Same. I will immediately cancel my recurring donation if AI is part of the site. Already only using search engines not using AI because I will not be part of the zombie crowd walking into this bubble while depleting scarce resources (energy, water etc) needed for people. @wikipedia.org

We urgently need higher motor taxes and parking charges for SUVs and other larger vehicles.

They cause enormous damage to both human and our environment. This must be reflected in the cost of owning an SUV.

Let’s be clear: Israel, an occupier, has no authority under international law to board or divert the Madleen.

This is a hijacking, plain and simple. A hijacking of a UK-registered ship, with multiple *European* citizens on board.

Does the EU or UK government have anything to say? Anything??

My 2nd little boy got his gift from the library for starting school in Sept. His choice of a bag of books as Gaeilge nó as Béarla. Chuffed little man then got 6 books out on his card (18 books out for the family in total 😄) & we all go home happy. Publicly funded social good. Long may they last! 2/2

In the same vein as a post from @saoirsemc.bsky.social last year, I want to remind everyone how amazing our public libraries are. A public space where, counter to our consumer culture, you don’t have to buy anything, just enjoy the space & the shared resources ⭐️ The staff are also amazing. 📚 1/2

Such courage & leadership being demonstrated by all on this boat, putting their lives on the line with this demonstration of humanity.
This cannot end as another tragedy. Israel must be stopped from inflicting harm on civilians in Gaza & those trying to help them.

Gunning down people you are choosing to starve as they desperately seek food for their families shocks the conscience.

States should urgently act, including imposing sanctions and an arms embargo, to press Israel to stop exterminating Palestinians.

Such a great few days at the #MaryRobinson conference in Ballina. Inspiring talks (particularly from @hannahdaly.ie & @elainemcgoff.bsky.social), engaging workshops & lots of good conversations. Feeling simultaneously overwhelmed & revived! Thank you sincerely to the organisers for a great meeting.

My companion for the train journey to Ballina for the Mary Robinson Climate & Nature Conference. I *highly* recommend it. Every time I’ve read a few pages these past few weeks my brain has fired off in different directions around our history, our current relationships with land & abiding traditions.
