My distraction today has been to finally make up a simple Carrd for my links. If you want to know where else I am, see my work, and contact or support me, here you go! 💚

It's slightly odd to call myself a Solo RPG Maker, but that is something I am doing more of, and want to do more!

I suppose I should be fair to myself and also explain that I am exhausted and was sick last night after a long day at a friend's wedding...so yeah...

Dearest fellow TTRPG goblins, I am expanding my offering! This is something I have long done in multiple work contexts, so it just makes sense to offer it on a freelance basis as well. Reasonable, flexible rates provided on request.
A colourful advertisement for proofreading services, including a picture of the provider and contact details. The caption beneath the image reads "Megan L. Ramirez" and the contact information specifies "megan.l.ramirez@gmail.com"

Haunting honks, you say? 🤔 That feels like a prompt right there! 😉 But I hope it quietens down soon for you!

If you have a podcast or newsletter about solo ttrpgs or otherwise, I’d love to chat about SPINE as well as some of the design questions that led to the game:

How do we play with books in ttrpgs? How do we talk about ttrpg books and why does it matter? How is reading part of or a form of play?

Part of my writing process for SPINE was to write exploratory essays and conduct interviews on design ideas that informed the project.

In SPINE, its book is part of the game, and the first essay in this series explores three ways that we play with books in ttrpgs.

Sometimes it's hard to not feel overwhelmed by *waves at the world* all this. However, working on something with the wonderful @mumblemegs.bsky.social is perfect for the escapism! Something whimsical this way comes... 👀 💚

Ooh yeah that's interesting! And yeah cryptic ones are hard xD gotta say though, your dungeons idea has given me a bit of a crossword bug xD
ap-cartography.bsky.social
Oh I wondered why the crossword layout looked so different! Didn't know the US had such a different style.
ap-cartography.bsky.social
Of course I actually meant crossword answers, not clues, but you know what I meant! 😅 In addition...
- illness was one of the answers near army and sample, which also in part inspired the lab but isn't so obvious
- a silly one, but Woodstock inspired the inclusion of a stack of firewood xD
ap-cartography.bsky.social
Crossword clues that inspired the map:
- strained, deserts (put together it led me to trickling sand...which prompted the hourglass shape)
- ninth
- ouch, curio (inspired the room of curiosities)
- hardwood
- sink (sinking sand)
- tankard
- stockade
- sample, army (inspired the lab)

Actually I'll do it now while I'm thinking about it xD word list incoming..

Thank you! Hm maybe I should've added a post about what crossword clues I used. I might do that tomorrow if I remember 😅

For a little while now I've wanted to attempt to make a dungeon map, and when I saw molomoot's Crossword Dungeons, I knew I just had to try it. I love this idea and it was so fun to do! It might not make much sense, and I probably made mistakes, but here you go....my first dungeon map!
A monochrom map of a dungeon, built off and inspired by a crossword. The title reads : Kozruk's Vault, A Crossword Dungeon. Beneath it is a list of nine locations on the map with brief descriptions. 1. Main Entrance - The door is made of thick hardwood - to keep something out, or in? 2. Room of Curiosities - There is an odd collection of items here, including a bloody dagger, and an ominous artefact. 3. Hall of Trophies - Eight plinths bear peculiar trophies of a macabre nature. The central plinth is empty...for now. 4. Practice Arena - Sand covers the floor, a rack of weapons stand ready. Careful, you may sink here. 5. Something Secret - Behind a boulder lies a dark entrance to someone's, or something's, hiding place. 6. Dragon Brazier - A carved dragon looks down into an ever-burning brazier of purple flame. Did it just blink? 7. Laboratory - Barely legible notes are scattered on the desk, but it is clear the "patient" has gone missing. 8. An Escape? - Behind a broken stockade and past the bloodstains, a hole in the wall. Maybe it leads to freedom? 9. The Planning Room - Both drinks and blood has been spilled here. A dagger pierces a map, obscuring a key location.
