The American dichotomy - ideals of freedom and equality in a nation made possible by sweeping coast-to-coast genocide and built on slavery that even to this day determines for many if you're born on a hill of privilege or in a valley of multiple disadvantages.

Wow, really, every platform except PlayStation? Bummer! Fingers crossed, maybe it will be on sale soon to coincide with TGS or something.

Perfect timing, finishing FF6 Pixel Remaster today and was looking to get this next.

"fucking door" is the only thing I remember, but man that stuck with me for some reason, it pops in my head now and then out of nowhere.

Thanks for this, puts in better words than I can how I feel about it. I understand why some people are celebratory about it, but I just can't feel that at all, what happened was horrible. If someone voices wicked ideas, I want those ideas to be rejected, not for the person's blood to be spilled.

Hoping to see this done for the Xenoblade games! I'm holding off starting until they get updated (I only played the first one way back on initial Wii release), but also realizing they may never be updated, so how long do I wait?

What tablet is that, what are you using to draw these days? Seems like it's been awhile since you had a post about your drawing tech. My daughter has been drawing from very young and is now a teenager and is asking about getting something like this.

I'm not disagreeing, but there is a strong exception. The trailer for The Social Network with the kids choir cover is haunting, achingly beautiful. Putting that cover of that song in that context was art. I've only seen the movie once, but I still revisit the trailer now and then.

Then in retrospect, all the bs - the misogyny, the racism, the gender/sexuality wars, the victim-blaming and cover-ups men got for sexual sin - started to make sense. It is a twisted Christianity, not for Christ, but for self, to clothe their perverted thinking in a robe of righteousness. Sickening.

Christian, always saw the Rep/Dem divide in the church, noted the hypocrisy of individuals, but never fully grasped it all until the last 10 years with Trump. Completely *horrified*. Realizing more than half the people next to me in church were essentially pro-Trump anti-Jesus ripped my heart out.

Forspoken got a ton before it even came out for being "cringe". I highly suspect all "cringe" would have been overlooked and forgiven if the protagonist was an angsty, nerdy white boy. But it was a young black woman, so the "cringe" was deemed outrageously unforgivable by the "anti-woke" crowd.

I'm in the same boat (not in video game industry, though). Most often these days "a job well done" directly translates into "your job is done". So we're out the door while others profit off of what we built.

Insomnia is good, but for all the reasons mentioned, it doesn't feel like a Nolan film. It is very much a "talented young director's first opportunity to spend studio money, and the studio is watching closely" picture. Did well enough that he got to do Batman next.

It's a beautiful song that needs to be sung at least a little ugly. The point is the imperfection, the falling short. Sing it broken, cynical, humble, yet paradoxically hopeful, or don't sing it. It's "I suck, the world sucks, praise God" not "hey everybody, listen to me sing the shit out of this".

Love the Hallelujah song but *hate* all the Christmastime covers of it. Oversung by "perfect" polished singers who all sound like the worst thing that ever happened to them was they once spilled their Starbucks on their white cashmere sweater.

They only consider it terror if they feel like the guns might be pointed at them.

I grabbed this from the movie and used it as my computer wallpaper for a long time.

Tons of respect for Spielberg and Lucas, but this show was run by two guys going through divorces, it's not all that surprising that it ended up with a lead female character like this (irredeemably selfish, shrill, empty-headed, and annoying, but also attractive and dtf our hero).

Strong disagree. You can hate the character, but that's not on the actress. She understood what she was asked to do and she nailed it. Her character was written and directed that way, different actress would just have you hate the same character but with a different face and name to wrongly blame.

I'm not sure what "all this" is, but I'm sorry you're going through it. I've been through that feeling, where a dream is dying and the hope is gone. And I've realized that after a dream dies, now there is room for a new one. Grieve the old one, but then bury it and chase the new one. Life, eh?

Breaking news, the UnitedHealthcare CEO played Monopoly a few times as a kid. This is "extremely ironic" and warrants its own article.

Yikes, if we got a Mel Gibson Christmas movie... we'd all be qualified OBs by the end of it.

Also contributes to that "everything is surreal and strangely off" feeling of the whole movie. I know that's not the consensus, but if I imagine him doing the accent perfectly, I think that is a worse movie.
