Exactly. I *completely* understand why the call to delay the substitution was made. I think any of those players would make the same decision. From the outside, Hal was clearly too hurt to continue, but damn near impossible to make that can from the inside.

My one solace here is that Gotham winning over the Spirit means Portland Thorns has missed Concacaf play next season (assuming same format). Yes I'm petty.

Hal's injury, the time playing down a player, and the decision to leave her on may have been the difference maker, but honestly the Spirit just haven't been playing at the level they should be tonight. Lots of mistakes across the field all game. Gotham has picked off so many passes and errant balls
