Autumn. Decal paper print on synthetic medium. #printmaking
A black and white image of autumn leaves floating on the surface of a pond. Branches of surrounding trees are reflected in the water. Large cracks in the print itself create the effect of additional branches. The irregular edges of the print itself resemble a polaroid emulsion transfer.

Another keeper from #holgaweek walk at Brighton with a great bunch of Holga lovers

A high-grain, black and white photograph captures the ruins of the West Pier in Brighton, England, silhouetted against a vast, cloudy sky and the churning sea. The pier's skeletal, burnt-out dome and fragmented supports jut out from the water in the middle distance. In the foreground, the shingle beach slopes down, with a single, small, dark figure standing near the water's edge on the lower right, adding a sense of scale and solitude to the dramatic, textured scene. The photograph evokes a somber, atmospheric mood.

Lovely to see a first exhibition of a selection of my new work 'The Edge of Ruin' in Colwyn Bay for The Northern Eye festival, organised by @orielcolwyn.bsky.social
You can see these images on the outside of the town library windows for the month. Thanks to all who helped the install.

Thanks Jim. If only the dude has sat exactly in the middle of the bench 😞

I only managed 1 day and that was only because I had agreed to go to Brighton and booked a hotel for me and the Mrs. Great fun though!

Surprisingly the Blue Holga TLR held up nicely into the sun for this contre jour portrait down on Brighton promenade at the weekend.

Quite pleased with this one, might make the entry selection

A high-contrast, grainy black and white photograph shows a person seated alone on a wooden bench, facing away from the camera and looking out towards the sea. The person is wearing headphones and a jacket. The bench casts a strong, long shadow towards the camera, emphasizing the bright sun and dramatic sky with scattered clouds. A metal railing separates the person from the water, which appears slightly blurry. The overall feeling is one of solitude and contemplation.

Also Teju Cole's, who is a photographer/writer, "Open City", which is not a photography book, is a fascinating read. Very similar in style and theme to The Rings of Saturn. Both are so beautifully written that you can picture the scenes and chapters are if they were.

Yeah, tricky one. There are photos and illustrations but it's so much more. There is a large tome called Shadows of Reality which dives into Sebalds archive of photos that were stimulus/inspiration for a lot of his books.

These two for me if you haven't read them. Not coffee table books but really interesting reading.

Popped to Brighton for #HolgaWeek Saturday with a bunch of Holgaites. Great fun! Went up the i360. It's very impressive from the outside and within.

Triple distortions from a Holga lens, more from the PAN 120 lens and the super curved glass of the i360 🤪
A grainy, black-and-white, high-angle photograph shows the remains of a pier jutting out into a turbulent sea from a sandy beach. The wooden structure, possibly the remnants of an old pavilion, sits further out, mostly submerged and surrounded by crashing waves. Closer to the shore, two distinct rows of vertical wooden posts stand in the shallows, casting faint reflections on the wet sand. The overall impression is one of decay and the relentless power of the ocean, captured with a blurry, perhaps intentional soft-focus aesthetic.

Oh wow and yay!!!! So chuffed for you and have a great time. Are you Holga walking in London? I'm intending a "flying" visit to Brighton.
