Oh, I completely agree. But what’s the point of keeping the same boulevard if it’s just to add a concrete, 1970s highway-style elevated rail on top of it?

It really would’ve been a terrible idea. It would have left another irreversible scar on Montréal. We can do so much better than cheap projects that would have disfigured the city and its heritage. And believe me, I'm in love with the current REM.
