Is it possible that so much of my self loathing comes from an earnest belief that I am not an interesting or compelling enough person to be someone I would be a friend or admirer of if I met myself? Possibly. It’s not all of it, but it could be some of it.

Just got back from this new movie by director Ari Aster, who I am a fan of. Really appreciated it, felt morbid enjoyment alongside substantive moral introspection, which I believe was intended. Immensely confused about this time in American history, but vivid and wired into that emotion, (/1)

The killing of two Israeli embassy staffers last night should not have happened. This sickening act of violence from that bigot could in no way facilitate justice for the Palestinians he claims to support. To murder is to continue the conflict. All he did was murder two people.

EDDINGTON reception seems to indicate that Ari Aster makes movies for all the people who dress up in black shirts with “SICKOS” written on the front for their recreational window creeping.

Why do you always find a reason for that victim to be assaulted, or shot, or deported, or otherwise violated and humiliated, whenever news comes out about police brutality? Sometimes cops fuck people up. Why is that so hard to believe? You can’t assume injustice never happens.

I don’t know what to say to anyone who thinks the suspension of the flow of food into Gaza for over nine weeks is acceptable under any moral basis. People need to eat. They aren’t eating. This is a Great Hunger for the Palestinians. It must end.

It happened too late, but I watched my first Indian film today. The good news is it was Pather Panchali (Songs of the Little Road), and I only want to see more. I hope you watch it too. The world of film always has something new to see even if you think you know what you like.

Everyone else who’s currently mourning Pope Francis’s life, I just want to say I’m here with you. I hope that we all continue to be a part of the humanity he belonged to.

Criterion booklets should have a second essay from someone who thinks the movie is ass like those Supreme Court dissent opinions

Generative art is such a waste. You aren’t creating anything when you use it. There’s no connection with the process, with your skillset or technique. Everything you’re doing and trying the computer does for you. At best, the pictures you make represent meaninglessness.

I’m not saying we’re living through tumultuous times, what I am saying is I’ve finally decided to study general history recreationally for the first time since middle school and it feels like putting on a life preserver

As someone who has yet to watch it, I’ve been searching for a comprehensive examination of Emilia Perez as a film and a controversy. I believe I’ve found it in this article. Shoutout to Héctor Guillén for his critiques of the movie. www.bbc.com/culture/arti...
'You're playing with one of our biggest wars': Why some Mexican people are upset about Oscars frontrunner Emilia Pérez
Musical Emilia Pérez, about a Mexican drug lord, is the frontrunner for the Academy Awards, with 13 nominations. But its depiction of the country is stoking criticism.
