Amtrak, at base, can't do this. This is a common misconception, often abused by both of our dominant sociopolitical monoliths to create a scapegoat. Federal reps like Nikema Williams or even Jon Ossoff (both of who have Bsky profiles!) have the power to improve rail service in the state they serve.

In Amtrak's FY24 for GA, they listed ADA requirements being met on existing stations as the only project. The majority of their "investment" is paying CSX to use their track.-

Plan, construct, or even decide where to run these services. Amtrak is the Federal *operator* of US rail services. It doesn't even own the vast majority of the track it operates service on, to the point that even if they had a specific grant to build their own, connecting it to its current network-

For a connection like this, it would realistically be orchestrated and supported by the state of Georgia! Without a large scale, radical Fed DoT FRA investment in our rail network (like we saw under the previous administration) it is radically beyond Amtrak's ability (or even chartered scope!) to-
