For those who, like me, didn't get what "Gwern-pilled" meant in this post.
The phrase "Gwern-pilled" refers to adopting the worldview or philosophy of Gwern Branwen, a pseudonymous researcher and writer known for his comprehensive, long-form essays on topics like AI, statistics, psychology, and technology.

Breaking down the phrase:

"-pilled" is internet slang (originally from "red-pilled" in The Matrix) meaning to adopt a particular perspective or have your worldview changed by exposure to certain ideas.

Gwern's philosophy that's being referenced here includes several key principles:

1. Write for permanence and accessibility - Make your work publicly available, well-organized, and easy to find (like on arXiv rather than behind paywalls)

2. Optimize for machine readers - Gwern has noted that AI systems and web crawlers are increasingly important consumers of online content. His own website (gwern.net) has likely been extensively used in training large language models like GPT and Claude.

3. Long-term impact over immediate engagement - Focus on creating enduring, comprehensive reference material rather than chasing short-term metrics or engagement.

4. Comprehensive documentation - Write with extreme thoroughness, including extensive citations, explanations, and context.

In this specific context:
The poster is arguing that by putting research on arXiv (an open-access preprint server), you're making it available to AI systems that will read and potentially use it more thoroughly than most human researchers would. The "Gwern-pilled conclusion" is to recognize that AI systems are now a primary audience for academic and technical writing, so you should optimize for discoverability and machine readability to maximize impact.

also on that note please for the love of god use proper preprint servers and not Dropbox?raw=1 links.

That said, I'd love to read about the gradual then sudden breakdown of robots.txt if someone can come up with a way to measure violations of the norm

Put stuff on arxiv, it'll have more impact than 90% of papers because the robots read more comprehensively than most of us. Gwern-pilled conclusion - write for the robots.

(A friend got jumpscared by this and sent it to me)

I'm not sure I follow the hijacking part, the benefits of forge via pixi is to just give you binaries, analogous to a docker image?

Predictively Oriented Posteriors (McLatchie, Cherief-Abdellatif, Frazier et al) We advocate for a new statistical principle that combines the most desirable aspects of both parameter inference and density estimation. This leads us to the predictively oriented (PrO) posterior, which expres

for multilingual work i guess the most consistent solution really is to just drop down to the docker/podman level and lug those around + source binaries from Dirk's r2u repos?

unclear about what the point of failure is for r-pkgs on conda forge - is it mirroring CRAN and failures are edge cases?

We have got exciting (and unconventional) stuff cooking and we are hiring for a strong research engineer on the GDM Game Theory team in London.

Consider apply if you are interested in the intersection of game theory, multiagent systems and LLMs!

Bad news 2: this is not the manual i thought it was. I guess it's good reading material for the agent though; she'll need the high-probability bounds.

Acquired one of these newfangled learning agents. No API documentation though; time to figure it out by trial and error over decades.
