i think a lot of the emotional dampening was learned bc they overloaded on the empathy as a child and genuinely would explode otherwise bc it was physically painful but it's still... technically there. its like theyre bleeding out but not realizing it bc their body numbed their pain receptors

-either they feel a very dampened version of something, almost like a dissociated phantom limb, which is typically the case, or they're genuinely fucking dying alongside you, which is more common the closer they are to you), and in general comes across very contradictory

-physical capability of experiencing emotions is inconsistent... intellectually they understand other people way too well but they don't always Feel what they feel in the classical empathy sense (which is to say they Do, and to vary degrees, feel extremely deeply but it's a 0 to 100 jump;
