Be able to communicate clearly - What was your question? What did you find? What are the implications? Ideally, you have a nice picture, a nice graph, and a nice visualisation to include there. I think a non-academic audience needs researchers who know how to translate their findings - Jillian Berk

Look at what the key problems are of an organization, & think about the skills and approaches that you've used in pursuing your degree, the ways that you've spent your time, & reframe the activities that you've done in a way that is relevant

Develop your expertise in a particular subject area, but also have a range of skills that are transferable across topics.
