Reading this in a coffee shop. Cobbett details how the incomes of working men fell over 900 years. Inadequate poor relief is a vision of what Trump has in store for working classes around the world.

Brought home all the more as the places he writes about were in my first patch as a young reporter.

Time to wake up to what Trumpism really means. A disaster for humanity.

The orange emperor and his recipe for global disaster
Trumpians have a plan - sort of - to recreate the warring states of ancient Greece and Rome. And it could lead to a mass human extinction. By Adam Jezard.

Met this amazing actor in a café today. He came over as a genuinely nice guy.

“Am I going to be impressed by money or fame or whatever, really? I don’t think so, no. I mean, a day’s fly fishing is all I’m really aiming for.”

The word "yet" in the right place missing from this sumup. Its absence hangs heavy.

"Trump isn’t another Hitler, complete with death camps and a Gestapo; but he is the nearest thing America has ever come to such a fate – and that’s bad for the whole world."

Remember a vote for Farage is a vote for Putin.

A vote for the Conservatives is a vote for Putin.

Support for Brexit is tantamount to appeasement.

Forgot the US and any special relationship. It's irrelevant, if it ever existed at all.

Rejoin the EU.

Trump: draft-dodging, small-handed, orange gnome bad-mouthing a real defender of democracy.

A lot of Americans applaud.

The rest of the world not so much.

Shameful.

I've got news for folk, certainly in the west, who object to migration or hide behind the racist arse-covering cry of "managed migration".

Japan is what the UK post-brexit in particular will start to look like without migrants.

Look through the telescope the right way.

I've been looking back at the foundations of western civilisation. We have barely moved on in our thinking since the days of Plato, Aristotle and Thucydides.

I'll be doing more on this soon but here's a previous thought splurge. We need to do better.
