We know about this incident because it mentioned in the appendix of a recent OPCC report. But we don’t know the officer’s name - meaning he could work at schools or with youth in the future and parents wouldn’t be aware of his history. thetyee.ca/News/2025/12...

Yeah, my kid had only just gone down on a solo care night, so I was pretty lucky to be available.

Just to clear things up: the discrepancy seems to be a replacing of the numbers on the doc from Net vs Expenditures.

Ugh, so annoyed I didn't save the doc last night. But the Budget Vancouver 2026 doc I was reading this weekend/last night literally used different numbers under Police Services than they do today. It used to propose $497mil.
November 12, 2025 at 6:53 PM
The numbers don't even add up on the doc anymore. The difference YOY now reads as a $46.2mil change, and a 10% change. But the difference by percent with new numbers is actually 9.2% (or 9% if rounded), implying whoever updated this doc forgot to rerun the % numbers. What is this budget.

What's the point in communities that overwhelmingly fund the punishing of life rather than the living of it?

The US is mostly State-run and State-scared media.

I don't know if anything is unfaithful here to the original vision of HCE. But it feels different when not bounding up against the tech constraints of hardware. Repackaging something that made interesting technical choices when those technical choices are no longer relevant robs it of an identity.
