They model pattern formation (of small domains) in biological membranes by local coupling between lipid bilayer curvature and composition. The morphology of patterns varies with membrane lipid composition, following a complex morphological diagram, in good agreement with experimental results. (2/4)

Freeze water rapidly below 0 °C, and you get a disordered glass-like solid called low-density amorphous (LDA) ice. Since LDA ice’s discovery 90 years ago, its atomic-scale structure has remained contested. Now researchers have shown that LDA ice is not a true glass but is partly crystalline.
