Using tariffs (increased taxes) to bail out (subsidise) farmers, manufacturers, families, in times of hardship seems a lot like the welfare state that Republicans find so odious.

Train? We took the train to Aix, where I was lucky enough to live for a year, a few weeks back. It's wonderful to see the landscape change the further south one gets - northern Europe gives way to Mediterranean Europe about an hour south of Lyon.

We just did La Piscine but it was well worth it - great space, terrific collection. Palais des Beaux Art in Lille also great - check out the relief maps in the basement. There's a super deli/cafe/wine bar in the centre of Lille old town called Les Fréres Pinard - they do a fab cheeseboard. Enjoy!

A lovely city. If you're there for a while it's well worth a trip on the metro to nearby Roubaix and the La Piscine art museum.

The warped ideology in the US that considers universal health care as some commie plot versus individual freedom is utterly shameful. Sure not all is rosy in the UK these days but we do have the NHS which while far from perfect is free and staffed by excellent medics.

When this is over an example needs to be made, many of these people (Trump, Miller, Hegseth etc) need to be behind bars and others e.g. Leavitt should find it extremely difficult to find suitable employment.

I don't subscribe to a streaming channel but was looking into doing so just this weekend and I read about this guy and his political leanings and thought netflix is probably the one for me.
