#DemocracyR&D has now 216 members, from which 36 in the #GlobalSouth. The network explores deliberative democracy in constitutions, connects deliberative and constitutional worlds, learns fron multiple cases, explores first cases (Switzerland, US..) and new cases (Germany, México...), and much more.

Fatima Zibouh on radical inclusion: Diversity is beeing invited to the #party. Inclusion is being invited to #dance. Random selection is not enough; we need to actively reach out those who are #excluded with attention, time, outreach and creativity.

Eva Bordos, currently organizing 2 #Women Assemblies in #Hungary. The real crisis is an emotionnal crisis. Citizens' Assemblies work even in difficult contexts (Ukraine, Bosnia-Herzegovina). We need them not only to change policies, also to co-create #narratives.

Some challenges of #Ostbelgien permanent model (Eva Johnen): 1) preserve flexibility (every topic, every Minister has its own dynamic); 2) need to work on quality topics; 3) growing burden for Citizens'council to do the follow up; 4) dynamic of exchange between citizens and politicians (dialogue).

David Van Reybrouck: 1) the sector of #DeliberativeDemocracy (DD) is obsessed with design, we need to be also #campaigners. 2) Need to build #alliances, now a mosaic of small organisations. 3) DD not insular but need to work with representative and direct democracy.

So many learnings from the 3 Permanent Citizens' Assemblies operating in Belgium. Now at the Council Chamber of the City of Brussels to hear about European Democracy at crossroads.
