1. The Callous Daoboys - I Don't Want to See You In Heaven

As a fan for the last 10 years, it has been amazing to watch this band evolve from album to album. This time, they swing for the fences & almost every track is a home run. This isn't just an album; it's a milestone for the band & the genre.

2. K-Pop Demon Hunters

From the moment I heard "How It's Done," I knew that this movie & its soundtrack were something special. It's a good thing K-Pop's soundtrack is so dang good and so dang catchy because my kids have watched this movie about 100 times (and listened to the soundtrack even more).

3. Igorrr - Amen

I had never heard of this artist/band before this release, but trust me when I say there's nothing in the world quite like it. Gautier Serre, the mastermind behind Igorrr, perfectly blends extreme metal, classical music, electronic beats for a heady brew of mind-bending music.

4. Sinners Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

Sinners was my favorite movie of 2025, and the soundtrack played a big role in my decision. I've never listened to the album front to back, but some of these tracks are absolutely timeless and have inspired me to dig into the folk and blues genres more.

Also, really glad to see that the ability to jump is back. I was really worried about that..

tl;dr

Ghost of Yotei doesn't break new ground for open world action games, but it is executed so well that I would highly recommend this to anyone with a PS5.

9/10

My favorite parts of this game were in order:

1) The open world
2) The combat
3) The story
4) The music and sound design

Maybe what's most impressive is that this game was created with a fraction of the budget and team compared to other AAA titles.

The budget was $60 million, and Sucker Punch has a team of around 160 people. Granted, this game took 5 years or so to make, but the result was definitely worth it.

Aside from the open world design, the combat in GoY was my favorite part.

Lastly, the music and sound design for this game were on a different level, and I think they were a step up from GoT. Atsu's main theme was an iconic track that will be remembered for years to come.

In AC: Shadows clearing out enemy locations could take upwards of 20 to 30 minutes. In contrast, GoY made every encounter feel like an intricate dance with ebbs and flows and never once did it outlast its welcome. The controls are smooth as butter, and the weapons are balanced and varied.

I could spend paragraphs talking about the combat in Ghost of Yotei, but I will keep it simple.

I know there were a lot of comparisons drawn between GoY and Assassin's Creed: Shadows, and FWIW, I stopped playing AC: Shadows because the entire game felt too repetitive, especially the combat.

Atsu's story shared similar themes with Jin's, but it definitely was a different journey.

Overall, the story was simple, but compelling, and without revealing too much, the overall ending was satisfying. Also, the voice acting and performance capture were amazing.

Hats off to Erika Ishii.
