We're excited to launch Lucy Smith’s essay, This Space is for the Curious, made as an outcome from a writing residency with us. The creative essay is the result of conversations with artist-run collectives and programmes across Wales about their structures and ideas.

Screenshot of Ben Cones’s residency home page. Separated into different coloured boxes, the text reads: (i) AI History Month - Artificial Intelligence: How did we get here? (ii) Information (iii) The Digital Archive [logo] (iv) Events. A circular Feedback button is in the corner. At the bottom is information and links reading: (copyright symbol) 2064, About Us, Shop, Careers, The Digital Archive About Us page of residency featuring the museum logo at the top of a traditional pillared building with 2024 - 2054 underneath. Below is information about the ‘museum’ along with painting of The Library of Alexandria and a photo of a building with a flag for The Digital Archive. Page of the website white at top and black at the bottom with a yellow black and white graphic on the left of someone holding a stopwatch combined with a fused bomb. Text reads Artificial Intelligence is a Ticking Time Bomb. Paragraphs of text on right. Text at bottom reads The street has always served as a powerful stage for shaping public opinion.

The project envisions a museum's website as it might appear 40 years in the future. Visitors are invited to explore this platform, where a new ‘exhibition’ will be added to the ‘Events’ page each week for the duration of the residency.

The Digital Archive explores the unchecked proliferation of artificial intelligence in today's society, through satirical commentary in graphic design and art I blur the lines between fiction and reality, highlighting the seemingly inevitable dystopian future we have in store.

Last week we had the pleasure of visiting North Wales for the culmination of Nick Davies’s library residency. More to come on that! 👀 Great to hear an excerpt of Rebecca Gould’s Saint Bryony as well. Thanks to everyone we visited. We had such a warm welcome, despite the weather! ❄️
