Yes there are a few options .. the F18A which is a FPGA board that gives you VGA out and a tms-9900 GPU at 100mhz and also the Pico9918 which is similar but runs off a Pi Pico. I have both in my store when they are available.

Major BBS required a 286 for it's expanded memory (up to 16mb!) and it was a task-switching based multi-line software all written in C. It worked really well even on a slow 286 to have up to 255 callers one one 286 system. I started with 2 lines, worked up to 4, then 8.

After spending time on some DLX systems and enjoying the chat rooms then looking into some other multi-line systems I decided to go with The Major BBS software which was the most expandable and had source code available for me to modify and write my own software if I choose.

I set up the XT with QuickBBS and put together a nice fido-net capable system with door games and file areas and it wasn't as popular as the TI-NET system was, Later I moved to RandomAccess software which was more robust but it still wasn't what I wanted. I decided I wanted to make it multi-line.

At one point the BBS was busy from about 6am until around 1am. I had to kick someone off or wait until 1am to log in myself and play my games and check messages etc. This was great but it made it so I was unable to use my TI-99/4A much.. So I decided in 1986 to build my first PC-XT for the BBS

I started with Techie BBS software and then later moved to TI-NET which was promised to be able to use fido-net a popular mail network at the time mostly running on PC based BBS's. TI-NET never could resolve the network part but was a great single line BBS with online games and forums/downloads

I started the BBS on my TI-99/4A as my phone bills at the time were bordering on insane for a kid who mainly got his spending money mowing lawns on the weekend, so I decided to set up my own BBS to get people to call me and upload stuff rather than me calling them. So much for that plan!
