There totally is a scene prominently featuring one!

These stories always existed in a different moral universe than the main series. Where the Game of Thrones adaptation seemed to revel in the cynicism of the books, this show is reveling in Dunk's earnestness.

Sincerity is so refreshing.

I was reading the first short story to my girlfriend last week, so I can see how faithful of an adaptation it is.

The main divergence is Ser Lyonel's tent, but that's such a joy to watch. You know the Baratheon tent is where the party is, in any era.

We played for about 10 minutes* and that was enough time to defeat an owlbear and claim the treasure in an abandoned castle. Everyone got to name a treasure they found in the vault, and my niece found a flying giant cat that could breathe fire. Good times.

*We stopped because it was time to eat.

I've DMed for my nieces, usually with much simpler rules.

When we visited for Christmas, my sister-in-law gifted Kandi some dice. Then her kid asked what game it was for, and then asked if she could play. "Yes, we can!" I said, and then improvised an adventure for her, Kandi, and Kandi's siblings.

Okay but actually: I don't recall ever nerfing an item. Just haven't had occasion to.

I think the more I play the less attention I pay to game balance, actually. There's just so much balancing you can do in prep and even during play that no item has thrown me off enough to justify the feel bads.

Never done 8+ for D&D. I was straining to include everyone at 6.

Also I've never fudged a roll. 😜 Wouldn't dream of it.
