After much practice, these pokemon have mastered their marksmanship, able to quickly grow and throw their pearly shell harpoons. Trainers often collect and sell the discarded shell harpoons, as their beautiful pearly appearance make them popular for decoration.

These pokemon like to live in moist caves, especially those that regularly flood with saltwater. Where they will make alcoves in the walls of the cave for homes. If disturbed, they will shoot the pearly harpoons they grow in their shells at their opponents.

These little pokemon are a notorious menace for tourists looking to visit Novajerse beaches. As they like to gather in groups and bury themselves in the sand. And if stepped on, they will fire a harpoon upwards, poking whoever steps on them.

Having developed wings, they can now cover vast distances of the barrens in search of plants to eat. Their flaming horns illuminating their surroundings such that they can continue searching for moss and such long into the night.

Their calls sounding quite a lot like a human in distress, they help give their habitat a reputation for being haunted. With it not helping that they like to sneak up on people at night and startle them. Though their rather cheerful personalities and low maintenance lifestyles keep them popular as first pokemon for young trainers just starting out on their pokemon journey. ALT

Their burning mouths help them to maximize the nutrients they get from the meager food sources by cooking it as they eat. Be careful letting them get into the bad habit of eating non-food items, as they might start chewing holes in your belongings.
These pokemon, despite their intimidating appearance and the often unsettling vocalizations they make, are actually quite silly. Which can be discouraging for trainers who were wanting a more scary and dangerous pokemon. A rare pokemon that lives in an area called the barrens. Because of the very poor soil, with very few plants able to thrive there, they’ve adapted to have rough burning tongues to scrape moss and lichen off surfaces for their food.

These large pokemon hold almost mythical status in their home region as compassionate protectors of forests. With many stone statues of them having been made by humans to honor them. Children are often taught to trust these gentle giants despite their size.

These pokemon will generally try to make friends with the pokemon who live around it. Using a mix of pleasant fragrances and healing abilities to win them over. Forests where they commonly live are usually exceptionally peaceful.

This little pokemon emits a scent that will mimic the smell of the flowers where it lives. This can cause problems for trainers if they live in a place with foul smelling plants.

Finally completed the starter trio for my fakemon region Novajerse! Which is a region based on New Jersey and functions as a neighbor to the Unova region similar to how Johto is the neighbor of the Kanto region.

Florakit, Fraychid, and Fragradonna. starting off pure grass, then being grass/fairy for their next two stages. These skunk/flower pokemon are very large for a starter pokemon in their final stage, often being compared in size to snorlax, if not larger. And they are held in high esteem in their native region due to their kind nature and healing abilities often leading them to help humans and pokemon in need pass through their forests safely, with there being many ancient stone statues of fragradonna honoring the pokemon in the western forests of their region where they were once most common. Though in the modern day they have become nearly extinct due to a mixture of habitat loss from a particular devastating series of conflicts in the region, and desperation during wartime leading to the military poaching them relentlessly for the use of their healing abilities. Them being the subject of a popular post war poem about the sadness of loss still being felt, as the poem describes remembering a magical experience of often encountering a motherly fragradonna in childhood, but to only find statues of them in the forest in their old age as they walk dirt paths that were once the well worn patrol routes of these large flower pokemon. With local scientists taking the lead on re-population and reintroduction efforts by forest restoration and training young florakit to adulthood as experienced battlers in order to increase their odds of thriving once released into the wild. All the pokemon of this line have a unique ability to change their scent to match any flowers in their area. often changing their scents with the seasons as well. This can have an interesting effect on members who live among humans however, as they can start to change their smell based on various naturally derived perfumes, like household cleaners. Or in the case of a fraychid who lived next to a bakery, they started smelling of vanilla. Kindlkid, Caprilik, Jerdiville. Starts off pure fire, then in next two stages are fire/dark type. These goat-like pokemon are native to an area of the region called the barrens. So named because the extremely poor soil quality only allows a certain kind of very hardy and slow growing pine tree to thrive there. To deal with these inhospitable conditions, these pokemon adapted to have rough fiery tongues to help them scrape off stuff like moss and lichen off rocks and tree bark to eat. Cooking the food as they chew in order to maximize the nutrition they gain. These pokemon were almost driven to extinction, being hit the worst of the three starters of the region as the most devastating of the regions conflicts occurred in the barrens they called home. Which had the added effect of giving these pokemon a very sinister reputation, as these pokemon are often very active at night, and their vocalizations can sound like a human calling out in distress. With this already being an often ignored part of the region due to being useless for agriculture, most of the early recorded encounters with this pokemon occurred from camping soldiers during wartime, giving it an almost mythological reputation that persists to this day. As it's inquisitive nature would cause it to approach camping soldiers at night, its burning horns appearing like some candles or torches in the darkness growing closer, before having a flashlight shown on it, startling the pokemon and having them let off a noise comparable to a human screaming, before abruptly disappearing into the darkness by flying off. These pokemon are quite small, and rarely get taller then 4 feet in height from hoof to horn in their final evolution. Despite their spooky appearance, trainers warn that these pokemon are notoriously silly and are often not the brightest. Being very difficult to house train and often not having much of a competitive spirit for battling. Spikester, Llancelle, and Clampoon. Starting off pure water, then water/fighting for the next two stages. Based on a mix of razorshell clams and cone snails, these pokemon are able to grow harpoons out of pearly shell, when they then use in battle. Spikester however, are considered a nuisance in the novajerse region. Where they gather in groups on beaches and bury themselves in the sand at the water line. Leaving only a cluster of small holes visible on the surface. When stepped on however, they will all fire the spike they hold in their shell upwards, creating a natural pressure activated spike trap on the beaches around the region. A few decades ago however, these pokemon were almost driven to extinction as part of an irresponsible effort for the to increase tourism to their beaches by making the areas safer to walk on, and their populations still have not recovered since. With there being continuing efforts from resorts to keep these pokemon from repopulating the beaches and threatening tourists, keeping them limited to a small number of less than ideal environmental sanctuaries in the region. Clampoon are about the size of an adult man, being close to 6 feet tall on average when standing straight. Its recommended for clampoon trainers to keep a little spray bottle of water with them, as unlike their pre evolution's, Clampoon cannot fully retract into their shells to prevent from drying out. it's wise to collect the pearly shell harpoons and they get worn down, as they can sell for a good price. Being beloved by craftsmen as an especially tough source of mother of pearl to be used in accents and jewelry-making. Fighting type trainers of other regions are starting to show greater interest in clampoon's very fluid fighting style and use of harpoons in combat, helping to further support conservation efforts.

Been making some fakemon for my original pokemon region called Novajerse, which is based on new jersey. And which would be on the same continent as the Unova region.
the skunk and the jersey devil are starter poekemon lines. while the fish is based on an american paddlefish.
