From last year…

I've just released a substantial amount of new stuff to the Archaeoptics Archive, about half a terabyte of #3d #photogrammetry datasets mostly of obscure #Pictish stones. All the work we did for English Heritage is also now available! #laserscan #archive

Another completed pair of viking age P42 oval brooches. Being able to make artefacts makes a huge difference to how you understand them from an academic perspective. It prevents poor interpretations as well as inaccurate writing regarding how things are made; prevalent within archaeology #vikings

The skill in doing this is unreal. These are stunning (and not even finished….)!
eblueaxe.bsky.social
Twi sets of silver plate soldered into the channels of these P37 brooches and engraved. Next to fit the face mounts, then they can be gilded! #viking

We've now got Viking oval 'gripping beast' brooches from Asgard, based on a beautiful Danish pair found in Lisbjerg, in our early medieval shop at Govan Old!

They accessorise delightfully with the gripping end-beasts on the Govan 2 hogback 🐲

The originals (C11331) are in @nationalmuseet.dk

Not that I know of. I’ve been using photogrammetry with drones which works really well. as such never really bothered with lidar…..

A couple of examples attached of 3d models from a DJI drone

I’ve walked past this hundreds of times and only just gotten around to doing a #3d #photogrammetry capture of it.

This is a milestone across the road from the #Glasgow Climbing Centre easily readable with a rendering!

So, I think this is, or is part of, the Tullibole hogback….? @govanstones.bsky.social ?
archaeoptics.bsky.social
The Dalserf #hogback with its fine tegulation! More restrained than its cousins at @govanstones.bsky.social but still splendid #viking #earlymediaeval #3d #photogrammetry

A Sunstone mural next to Lidl!

🐍🐍🐍🐍 The Sunstone, an early medieval carving that may be a repurposing of a PREHISTORIC standing stone, features a spiral of snakes and can also be seen on this gate!

We sell a miniature of the Sunstone as part of our Archaeoptics range 🛒

Thanks for the 📷, Annemarie
Metal gate featuring an early medieval design of four snakes emanating from a central boss - IWRC, the design was Richard East of City Design Co-Op's great idea.
