It’s disingenuous to criticise Starmer for this. This happened on the last governments watch and 7 of the last 8 years were under them too.

You seem very aggressive and I’m not sure why? I never claimed to be an expert but thought that your comment may have conflated the figures a little - nothing more.

I assume the original comment relates specifically to disability payments which I guess is only a fraction of the £266.1 billion benefits bill and which depending on the cost of unsuccessfully denying these (specifically PIP) may well exceed the actual cost of paying benefits in those cases.

This is a wonderful environment. My own son has complex needs and is a young adult now living independently but in a much more restricted environment. Opportunity for meaningful work and social interaction are so limited that sometimes it can feel like he is being warehoused rather than cared for.
