Maybe the end of the last thread was a little negative; I still remember opening this screen on a weekend morning either hearing birds singer or the rain of bullets. If you can remember hearing this as well, thank you.

Men I Trust - All Night; the garage session they did during COVID was one of the smoothest, heartfelt covers I’ve ever listened to. Feels nostalgic and harm, to have a good night~

By the way, you know what other DLC had you traverse through an alternative reflection of the games world? One mired with the actions of the past, and is the focal point of the narrative which all ‘outer gods’ scheme to take control of?

With the ‘Shadow of the Erdtree’ DLC approaching, I want to cover what we ought to expect based on the trailer, along with similar themes that we’ve seen in other games. From the trailer, we are being pulled into a frozen ‘unsung’ past which casts a terrible shadow on the games current events.

Need to post this here, just to remind myself how much this song fucks.

What do you call this trope? Because I love it.

The more I read about urban planning, the less I know what the final ‘form’ should be. Or to better put; if you have a garden, you can temper the design, but you’ll never be the owner of it. It’s a living thing with changing rules and a biology; a community outside your control.

Today’s episode of Delicious in Dungeon was great, please go watch it; I’ll do a thread about it sometime.

Been reading more into existing community redevelopment projects; particularly ones focused on housing and public space (as opposed to just commercial) to re-center their townships. On the left is in Sterling Heights, MI and on the right is in Ohio.

Will post more, its just been a busy four months; on an unrelated note, here are some student projects I enjoyed reviewing.

Fallingwater is the best of Prairie School; Real Modern Permaculture. Built as a summer home for a couple who loved their hike through these forests is now an open air museum for Western Pennsylvania. The tree window when you first meet the building speaks for itself. Wright’s sketch vs the final.

Prairie School architecture isn’t just a design for midwestern homes, but the defining design of early American Modernism. Not in steel and glass; but in civil engineering and architectural landscaping. Punctuated by low hanging horizontal roofs and beautiful geometric ornamentation. A 2024 Thread/

Scott Pilgrim ‘Takes Off’ was probably my most pleasant surprise all year. This show made me love the series all over again; hitting on its most important points with no fluff. The Evil-Ex’s being real characters, and Ramona mending her past with them was the best part, we also see less Scott. :p

But midcentury modern ‘Chicago Window’ was contributed by the internationally recognized deigns of Mies van der Rohe. ‘Less was More’ or Glass-and-metal for more space, light, and form; curtain-wall construction. A new window for consumers, office goers, and the pedestrian. Our new Chicago street.

The ‘Chicago Window’ and early Modern architecture in the city centered on commercial design; one part appeasing consumers gazes, but also sets a comfortable design to pedestrians at a city street level. Just look at the Sullivan Building’s northwest entrance bronze-plated cast-iron ornamental work.

It’s funny how two foreign animation studios, both which I have the utter respect for, made some of the most competent/coolest modern cyberpunk series based off of video-game series to date. If you haven’t already seen ‘Cyberpunk: Edgerunners’ and ‘Captain Laserhawk’ on Netflix; give them a chance.

Bruno Munari works in modernism were imaginative as they were constructive. Picture books were his passion in communicating design within time and space. While his typography’s are famous, I highly recommend his work ‘In the Darkness of the Night’ as a nice introduction to his work. It’s a mood~

I visit the other site time-to-time just to keep up with those that haven’t transitioned; would like to share other stuff here. For starters; this wonderful Dezeen article on interior design. The color and orientation of these checker floors are on point~ they complement and contrast perfectly.
Eight interiors where chequerboard flooring adds a sense of nostalgia
A dispensary, a hotel gym and an office in a former military warehouse feature in this lookbook, proving that chequerboard floors aren't just for kitchens.

The Sydney Opera house was built in 1973, and after 50 years Jørn Utzon design of this weightless structure still captivates attendees. The elliptical shells and the buildings many circumferences was a major puzzle for engineers to discover and reveal.
