I guess technically the translation of the second half is "doesn't read one-it." 🤔 )

they would write “Ekadý pwgt; nå şadag tw’gyv.” Literally, this means “Ekkadite it is; it, one does not read.” The indirect pronoun gyv means “it,” and the contracted pronoun preceding it, tw’, is the direct third person pronoun “one.”

it was Ekkadite to me

In the Fourth Astral Era, many early scribes became proficient in ancient Allagan but had little to no knowledge of the Ekkadite alphabet or language. When a scribe or student encountered an Ekkadite quotation in an Allagan text,

This is likely how the word “butt” became associated with the human rear end, and later with other objects that taper to a blunt end. Eorzean appears to have adopted the word “butt” in place of the earlier word “arse” some time during the Fifth Astral Era.

a subject of mockery and ridicule. The last piece of common Allagan fashion to lose buttons was the undergarment, which retained a button-flap until it was replaced entirely by the advent of the zipper and other magitek adhesives.'

Her children face constant starvation.

These families deserve the aid the West has denied them by engendering these massacres. We owe them our attention and our resources.

Wafaa’s children only survived because they were outdoors when Western tax dollars funded the demolition of their home.

Now, they rent a tiny room from a predatory landlord in horrible, unhealthy conditions.

OMG I love him so much. What a wonderfully enchanting voice! 💙

Oh yeah. Don't mind the tilde. 😜

Xandẽ (ZAN-day) is how the Allagans spelled his name.
December 21, 2025 at 7:11 AM
...but Meracydia wasn't a target until Xandẽ went bloodthirsty. Vylbrand is an archaeological blind spot in the Allagan record—the perfect place for a non-Allagan sovereign state to have once thrived. 😊

Things worked out, in the end.

I'd based Allag on ancient Egypt long before I decided to write a play where the Allagan Empire and Egypt have "relations." Hindsight oops! 😅

But why Vylbrand? I'd initially thought to go with Meracydia...

...by Amon. Their history was effectively wiped from the map, leaving only ghosts in the soil.

The name Khemet means “the Black Land,” referring to the rich, fertile soil Vylbrand remains famous for today.

Fun fact: "Kemet" was the actual ancient name for Egypt.

The part where the slaved Pyndarys, having both his freedom and his birth name Mysåga returned to him, is revealed to be an AFAB Hrothfar, and likely a trans person as well.

Our translation team, led by a trans man, was very excited.

(*Enter Titånỹs and Mesalå.*)

MESALÅ
It is but change, Titånỹs, for Oktoẁỹs
Is overthrown by noble Brwtus’ power,
As Kasỹs's legions are by Ant'wyns.

TITÅNỸS
These tidings will well comfort Kasỹs.
—from Julỹs Kaĩsar, Act V, Scene 3

So did you catch it?

Even with the sword that killed thee.
(*He dies.*)

MYSÅGA
So I am free, yet would not so have been,
Durst I have done my will.—O Kasỹs!—
Far from this country Mysåga shall run,
Where never Allag shall take note of him.
(*He exits.*)

Now be a freeman, and with this good sword,
That ran through Kaĩsar’s bowels, search this bosom.
Stand not to answer. Here, take thou the hilts,
And, when my face is covered, as ’tis now,
Guide thou the sword.
(*Pyndarys/Mysåga stabs him.*)
Kaĩsar, thou art revenged

To see my best friend ta’en before my face!
(*Pyndarys comes down.*)
Come hither, sirrah.
In Bõz’ga did I take thee prisoner,
And then I swore thee, saving of thy life,
That whatsoever I did bid thee do
Thou shouldst attempt it. Come Mysg’, keep thine oath.
