The Diamond Eye. Novelization of the life of Lyudmila Pavlichenko. An absolutely brillant book. It’s historical fiction but the author tells you what she made up at the end so I’m counting it.

When I did it I did one large bag per shoe. Mine were definitely not velvet, and I did have that thought as well. But I figured that I would share anyway! Worked great for me.

Fill two big ziploc bags with water, put them inside the shoes and freeze the water overnight. You will wake up in the morning with broken in Docs.

I was shocked at how effective this was when I tried it
