I have to say, as someone who has used one of these, they are excellent for when you're eating egg cups. You don't have to hit your egg over and over again with your spoon as it cracks in impractical directions (but if you don't eat hard/soft boiled eggs, then I can understand why it seems odd!)

My friend had to choose between paying for the vaccine out of pocket, or risking it and potentially dying a horrible death. She chose to risk it. She's still under observation by her husband.

A different friend was quoted $20,000 a few years ago (in a different state). This is, of course, outrageous, but also the state of vaccines and insurance in the USA.

A bat recently hit my friend in the head, then flew around and hit her again. At the hospital, they told her that they couldn't find a visible wound in her hair, and therefore her insurance wouldn't pay for the rabies vaccine. Did she still want the vaccine? It would cost her $30,000 out of pocket.

Usually I have at least one long backpacking trip every summer. This year, it was through the eastern Sierra Nevadas. I got to revisit some of the trails I did on the JMT, and climb new mountains. My happy place :)
