Are you the farmer?
@areyouthefarmer.bsky.social
Of course he's the fucking farmer!
What do you expect? 650 MPs and roughly 600 of them have little meaningful work to do in Westminster over the course of a parliament. They get bored, they leak and they backstab.

Surely we need no more than 100 MPs and 100 Lords (or even better Senators)? What are the rest there for?

Max, Isack, Liam and Linblad?

So you're on first name terms with three of them, but not the fourth?

He looks like an old man. That's because he is an old man. The US needs to bring in an upper age limit for being elected to office. Why does anyone think a man close to 80 is capable of doing this job when, for example, an airline pilot is forced to retire at 65?

And it came across as particularly petulant and entitled. I had a shitty student job 30+ years ago in a foundry where people were working 80-100 hour weeks for under £3 an hour just to make ends meet. They have my sympathy, not some whinging middle class doctor who'll be on north of 6 figures soon.
December 2, 2025 at 11:58 PM
Why? Doctors are key workers, but so are lots of other people. Why single them out for special treatment, noting their earning potential? If you want to write off student debt, do it for people who end up lower paid jobs like teaching and social work.

So IMHU he just came across as whiny and entitled, without a sense of perspective about his current earnings vs his earnings over the next 40 years.

And let's face it, if he's feeling that hard done by he has the option to eff off to Australia, double his wages and work half the hours.
December 2, 2025 at 11:51 PM
Personally, I found the guest extremely frustrating. Yes, junior doctors perform crucial roles in society. But let's face it, sooner or later you'll no longer be a junior doctor, and you'll be earning a salary that's far higher than most people with similar levels of education.

The key word here is "traditionally". It's 2025 not 1975. Trade union power is a fraction of what it once was, and the UK is far better because of it.

If Vance is nominated, it'll be like shooting fish in a barrel for whoever the Dems nominate. All they need to do is work their way through a list of Trump's failures, corruption, illegal acts and repeatedly ask "Do you support what Trump has done?". If he answers "no" Trump will do the rest...
December 2, 2025 at 3:34 AM
Vance is a paper tiger. He lacks charisma and electability. Although I despise him, I understand why certain people have been drawn to Donald Trump; the excess, the bragging, the self indulgence. It's an act Vance can't replicate. Who is therefore his constituency? Tech Bros? Who?
December 2, 2025 at 3:31 AM
But let's face it, we all know what this is actually about. Oil. Trump is out to line his pockets with more backhanders and brown envelopes of cash, this time paid by the world's oil companies for the rights to extract Venezuelan oil. It's so fucking transparent.
December 2, 2025 at 3:21 AM
And also, what drugs are they claiming Venezuela is exporting to the US? Most of the US's cocaine comes from Colombia. Venezuelan produced drugs mainly end up Europe and the Carribbean. And isn't this allegedly about Fentanyl, which isn't produced there in any great quantity.
December 2, 2025 at 3:20 AM
Forgive my ignorance, but if they're claiming it's a war, doesn't it need Congress to approve? And if it is, who is the war supposedly against? If it isn't, and these people are suspected of committing crimes, where is the due process? Drug smuggling doesn't carry the death penalty in the US...
December 2, 2025 at 3:12 AM
How do you know the "six million trade union members" don't have a party that represents them? Have you consulted them, or are you claiming they all think like you and are seemingly crying out for a far left party that'll be a distant memory in less than three months?
December 2, 2025 at 3:08 AM
Aside from a few people in the lower sixth and the odd Trot, who exactly are they supposed to appeal to? All the political bases in the UK are well and truly covered. If you're far left, you're going to vote Green, not for this bunch of limp lettuce leaves.
November 30, 2025 at 11:20 PM
They don't help themselves, do they? A disorganised drum circle of collective leadership, where the two best known (actually the only two anyone has heard of) clearly hate each other more than they hate Farage, a silly name and zero chance of anyone outside Islington giving a toss...
November 30, 2025 at 11:18 PM
As if it's "hate speech"! It's certainly rude and unpleasant, but it's a bit much to claim using it incites hatred. And yes, it's exactly the sort of uncouth and childish word Donald Trump would use, but it shouldn't stop anyone using it when quoting him, or referring to it as the grating"R word".
November 30, 2025 at 10:02 PM
And if you really want to, you can add in the DUP, who propped up the May government of 2017-2019. But hey, two parties...
November 30, 2025 at 6:26 AM
Only two parties? And yet just over 10 years ago we had a coalition government, and sadly there's now another party that are at risk of being elected. I make that four... Oh, and that's obviously not counting the SNP and Plaid... So we're already up to six...
November 30, 2025 at 6:25 AM
I'm guessing the word here is "retard"? There, was that really so bad? No, it's not a nice word, and not something anyone should use, but there shouldn't be any issue quoting that Donald Trump called someone a retard, and that he did it in an offensive way.
November 30, 2025 at 2:03 AM
What on earth is the "R word"? Why can't you just use the actual word to avoid confusion. We're all adults, we can take it, and we're sophisticated enough to know the context it's being used in (whatever the word is). When you're too afraid to say or write a word it's a sorry state of affairs.

Not sure how Gorsuch, Kavanaugh and Coney Barrett sleep at night. Imagine studying and practicing the law for decades, having expert knowledge of ethics and legal impartiality, knowing the Constitution inside out, and then one day saying "Ah, fuck it" and becoming the gimp of a corrupt maniac.
November 30, 2025 at 1:55 AM
Those are, but your originals definitely weren't.
November 30, 2025 at 1:48 AM
You don't seem to understand how the Leader of the Conservative Party is elected... Clue, it's not through a public vote, so "hello" right back to you...
November 30, 2025 at 1:46 AM
Which of the above are oxymorons?!
