Ten year old me wouldn’t believe, in the future, I could photograph red kites as I sit on a bench eating a sandwich with a communications device I keep in my back pocket. 🤯🤯

A delightful Charles Tunnicliffe orchard scene for the Ladybird books. Although he spent most of his working life on Anglesey, Tunnicliffe grew up on a small tenant farm near Macclesfield.

When the snows came, the drifts made patterns against the walls. This is not far from Leeds👇 Pretty innit?

February from Eliot Hodgkin's 'The Months', 1951. Long awaited spring flowers, the first forced rhubarb, gladiolus bulbs and a dainty florist's tulip.

Á Twitter, and Bluesky, friend died today. She was my first follow on here after years of friendship on Twitter. I never met her but cried more than I have for people I know in real life. Some people on here you walk with, side by side for a while. It’s a lovely and rather special thing. A sad day.

Slighty otherworldly and a bit fairy storyish. Whatever, it’s a stonking tree trunk in my view!😍

Ann Lockley taking tea with a baby hawk and a lobster. Ann lived on the island of Skokholm, where her family were the only inhabitants and animals were pals. This photo was taken for a 1938 National Geographic story ‘We Live Alone and Like It — On An Island’.
