Of course they have ‘free will’ that's what makes them so fun. When placed in different environments and situations you get to puzzle out how they react based on their knowledge, background, and personality. It's the best when characters surprise you with unexpected answers

Days recovering from serious injuries put him in a foul mood as he strove to be uncooperative. An attempt to go home put an end to his vexing ways when he was found bells later tangled in shrubbery below the balcony.
Once well enough to travel, old friends kept an eye on him until fully healed

G'raha, went from coworker to being obsessive over a fictionalized version of him.
Argasar did not appreciate the secrecy on top of everything else and proceeded to hold a grudge. G'raha was recently forgiven as his overall actions did save people but is on thin ice

Y'shtola was the last of the Scions that Soren warmed up to, just because they're *such* different personalities. They've had their ups and downs.

Through EW they became closer, but of all things, Troia caught me off guard as the "bonding experience" !!

ShB and EW role quests are canon but the healer sections are him doing a mediocre job at best. Haven't decided with DT as I've deviated from the expansion. His friends might be involved with some. Like the idea of Udutai getting a kick out of Argasar's attempts at healing before stepping in to help
